2023 Nissan Altima: Redesign, Release Date, and Pricing

Published on Jun 20, 2022 by United Nissan Imperial Team

Nissan’s best-selling midsize sedan is getting a mid-generation upgrade. The 2023 Nissan Altima arrives for its new model year with an expanded list of standard safety features and styling enhancements.

Serving as the in-between point for Nissan’s sedan lineup, the Altima’s “just-right” size has made it a popular choice for drivers across the country. Now with an even more attractive array of features, the 2023 Altima is set to lead the mid-size segment for this model year.

The 2023 Nissan Altima is expected to go on sale in Imperial, California fall of 2022.

Nissan Altima 2023: Release Date, Pricing, Trims

The Altima offers a diverse lineup for drivers with two available engines and four well-equipped grades. The eight options available are S FWD, SV (FWD or AWD), SR (FWD or AWD), SL (FWD or AWD), and SR VC-Turbo FWD. The Intelligent All-Wheel-Drive option uses an advanced torque split system that automatically redistributes torque to the wheels. Made in the USA at the Canton, Mississippi plant, the sedan is expected to arrive in showrooms later this year.

Pricing for the sixth-generation vehicle has not been announced. However, it is expected to start slightly higher than its previous model year. The 2022 Altima started at $24,900, so it’s anticipated that the 2023 Altima starts at around $26,000.

2023 Nissan Altima Redesign

Some styling updates have been made for this model year. To start, Nissan has updated the Altima with their new logo. This modified branding was first seen on the brand’s flagship all-electric SUV, the 2023 Nissan Ariya. Along with this, the Altima flaunts a sportier front face and new wheels. This redesigned front fascia was crafted to boast the sedan’s bold and upscale feel. On the wheels, the SV wears 17-inches while the SR, SL, and SR VC-Turbo sport 19-inch wheels.

Specific to the SR models is a special “black chrome” grille finish and unique design that differentiates it from the other trims. Other updates include standard LED headlights with daytime running lights, a new expressive taillight design, and an available single-panel moonroof.

Carrying over from its predecessors, the 2023 Altima is available in 7 exterior colors. These paints include Scarlet Ember Tintcoat, Brilliant Silver Metallic, Gun Metallic, Super Black, Pearl White TriCoat, Glacier White, and Deep Blue Pearl. Two new exterior colors join the lineup as well: Gray Sky Pearl and Garnett Pearl Metallic.

Performance-Based Powertrain Options

Drivers have the choice of two 4-cylinder powertrain options. The first is a 2.0-liter Variable Compression (VC) Turbo, which generates the performance of a V6 engine but with a 4-cylinder level fuel economy. Exclusive to the Altima SR FWD, the engine delivers a smooth 248 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. Gas need not be a worry with the Altima SR’s 25 MPG city, 34 MPG highway, and 29 MPG combined.

On the rest of the lineup is an advanced 2.5-liter DOHC engine. It is rated at 188 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque for the FWD models. On the AWD cars, it bumps slightly down to 182 hp and 178 lb-ft of torque. Fuel economy for the rest of the grades averages to about 27 mpg city, 37 mpg highway, and 31 mpg combined.

All 2023 Nissan Altima vehicles come equipped with a standard Xtronic transmission. For the SR grade, paddle shifters are also included.

Upscale, Sport Interior

The Altima is luxurious in both design and materials. Using crafted fabrics and paneling, the mid-size sedan has a cabin that exudes an upscale feel. On the SR models, dual-stitching is woven throughout in an aesthetic two-tone color scheme, making it both pleasing to the eye and to the touch.

New for 2023 is a 12.3-inch display, which replaces the previous year’s 8.0-inch screen. This new premium size is the same one found in the elite Nissan Armada full-size SUV. Not only does it feature a high-resolution display that delivers crystal clear graphics, but it’s also customizable. Users can create shortcuts and favorite destinations.

Other available interior features include:

Single panel moonroof Bose Premium Audio system with nine speakers Active Noise Cancellation Amazon Alexa

Nissan Altima 2023 Tech

Safety comes standard with the 2023 Altima. Like all the vehicles in Nissan’s lineup, the Altima brings an industry-leading level of technology to its segment. For its 2023 model year, the midsize sedan arrives with standard Nissan Safety Shield 360.

This technology grows year after year with new features added regularly. For now, Safety Shield includes:

Forward Collision Warning Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection Blind Spot Intervention Lane Intervention Traffic Sign Recognition High Beam Assist Around View Monitor Cruise Control Back-Up Intervention Trace Control

Other available features include Intelligent All-Wheel Drive, ProPILOT Assist, and NASA-inspired Zero Gravity seats. Altima also adds convenience features that make commutes back and forth a breeze. Among the upgrades for 2023 are the additions of the Nissan Door-to-Door Navigation system, wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless phone charging, and WiFi hotspot.

At the time of writing, the 2023 Nissan Altima is not yet on sale. It is expected to arrive in Imperial, CA in the fall of 2022. Can’t wait for the 2023 Altima? Shop the 2022 Nissan Altima here.
